Assembly

Assembly Case Study

There are many different ways to assemble products and the expertise is knowing which method is best for each application.

Hand assembly is suited to low volumes, where capital expenditure needs to be kept as low as possible. This does give the highest piece part price.

Semi-automatic assembly involves creating jigs and fixtures that can be loaded manually into machines, which gives better repeatability and lower piece part prices, but does have a higher capital expenditure.

Full automation requires a much higher initial investment, but reduces the piece part price significantly and the pay back time for the investment is dependant on the volume requirements.
